I've been looking into using some spring loaded lures that keep the hooks within the lure body until a fish bites, which then releases the hooks into the fish's mouth. It seems like these would be great for fishing in weedy areas so as to avoid getting caught up on something. Does anybody have any experience or insight into these types of lures/how well they work?

Those seem interesting. wonder how tough those hooks are?! would the spring activate if you hit the water hard?!

Are these lures related to your survey regarding a 'hookless' fishing lure?

They appear pretty flimsy to me.

Had a guy ask me to draw up a design from a sketch about 20 years back for a spring loaded lure
He dropped a lot of money to get patent
And working to get it into production,
He was not successful

I never did get one of the lures
