Wife and I have been killing the local DFW ponds the last couple weeks. Looking to make a little day trip out to bank fish on a larger lake. Any suggestions? Not really caring where.. just want to go somewhere different that has enough bank access.

Went to purtis a couple weekends ago and did well.

Plan on going wherever Sunday. Will report results.

Lots of good bank fishing spots on Cedar Creek lake, especially for catfish.

Depends on what type of fishing, bass, catfish, crappie.

Lot's of banking options near DFW area, Ray Roberts, Joe Poole state park or possible Squaw creek.
Grapevine has numerous parks for bank fishing.

Slide right, coming in .... Fish On!

I tend to disagree with you on this.....CC has very limited bank access as most of the shoreline is private.....at least compared to most DFW lakes. However crappie spawn or catfish spawn is the name of the game right now. Ray Hubbard might be a good option for cats, fish the windy side of rocky areas.

Grapevine lake - north side - you have access to almost half of the north shore - all the way from twin coves park all the way to the dam (depending on how much your willing to walk). If you like going for whitebass, bass, or crappie - go to twin coves. if you like catfish go to murrell and do the shoreline/point right right next to twin coves (via the camp ground day use area).

My personal favorite area w/ family is twin coves due to facilities and just all round nice area - but i'm a resident w/ annual pass so it makes a lot of sense. If you don't want to pay the fee murrell is almost as nice - and the catfishing is better smile

took my son fishing this morning - and white bass were breaking within 5 feet of shore all along that area. Ended up catching 3 from the ramp/bank w/o even launching the boat in about 3 minutes... along with 2 other random families that were going to launch boats... we all and ended up delaying our boating plans for some good fun fishing w/ our kids :^^:

Was kinda funny seeing a traffic jam at a boat ramp... because everyone wanted to bank fish fish

As mentioned, there are many choices for bank fishing in the DFW area. I prefer Ray Hubbard and Grapevine for day trips since they are close. There are also many places on Tawakoni for good bank fishing. I mostly go to Anchor Inn; we stay in the cheap shelters and fish all weekend. Probably going out there again in the next week or 2.
