Headed to BPS Today to pick up a few packs. Any suggestions on what type of jig heads or your fav weights to fish them with will definitely be appreciated. Thanks

1/8oz is a good starting point. I've used 1/16 and 3/16.

Get the biggest hook you can. They catch big fish.

The top one is a Big bite Baits, the bottom is BPS. I forget the name. I love the BPS one's wide gap hook.

I throw them on the back of swimjigs, seedless and on underspins. From the 3.8 to the 7" version. Match the hook to the size of bait and just throw. They catch plenty of fish.

Very good on the back of the Nasty Thumper also. Recommend the 3.8" and 4.3" Fat Impact.

Alex do you like Keitechs or a Zako more on your Thumpers?

I might be wrong, but I don't think BPS carries Keitech. They have their own brand--speed shad or something like that.

Every lure is a situational tool to me. I like the Keitechs in the heavy stain/dirty water (8" visibility or less). They seem to balance the Thumper and it tracks a little more in-line than with other trailers. I think the extra water displacement and straighter-line helps the fish track my bait down in the dirtier water. I watched a few this Spring make a wake and come to it from a few feet away.

I really like the Zako for skipping. The bulk of the trailer helps keep the bait on top for longer. I'm not a great dock fisherman, but I can put that setup from one side of a large dock to the other. I found out pretty quickly that I needed to have at least two packs with me for a day of fishing with the Zako and skipping.

If I think the fish can see the bait from a couple of feet away, say light stained to fairly clear, I'll go with a LFT, Zoom Split Tail or something else that allows the Thumper to be a little more erratic. LFT Magic Shad isn't as bulky as the Zako, so the Thumper has a little bit more erratic action with it. A lot of guys from the North and Northeast U.S. have told me this is their preferred setup.
