Dropped from 70+MPH to 50 instantly. I thought I dropped a cylinder or something. Luckily I kept it on pad and limped in to weigh in with 3 minutes to spare. Boat wouldn't move after weigh in. A couple fellas had us back up to their boat and they cut a bunch out and got us moving enough to put it on the trailer. I wish I had caught their names.

Glad the motor is okay. I've dropped a cylinder on a couple motors. Not fun and $$$

Make sure you pull the prop and check your seals. If the rope made it down to the seals it probably melted them.

After all the bad thoughts & possibilities going through your head it's one time you would feel blessed to have rope wound around your prop! (Glass 1/2 full). thumb

Same thing happened to me on a Skeeter demo ride. Guy was showing off the 300 HPDI, running wide open. We hit a trot line and it was like throwing a parachute out the back of the boat. Almost came to a complete stop but it finally cut loose. He limped it back to the docks and I won a thousand bucks in the demo ride drawing. My day was better than his.

Already pulled it. Didn't seem like it got to the seals. Still going to changed the lower unit oil a few times over the next month or so to check for water intrusion.

I lost a rope once, but it ain't mine and you can't prove it. Everybody has a cow get out until someone hits it and then suddenly they have never lost a cow? Hope it was like you said and no seal damage. Could it get bound tight enough on one side to bend shaft? Just in case it happens to me or someone else in the future. At least you took pictures before digging out just in case claim is needed.

I hit a net at Falcon once in my old boat and it broke the shaft. Luckily the insurance paid for it.

Believe it or not, sounds like you got lucky. Could have been worse.

OTH, it's good practice to check both props after each trip to the lake.

Ah yes, prop fowling. An oldie, but a goodie. This might have been an accident. Then again, it might not.
