All,
I am looking at going to Bridgeport for the first time Saturday. Questions I could use your help with:
1) Which boat ramp should I use. I have a 20' bass boat
2) Any hazards running the main lake
3) typical patterns - not asking for spots, just a little guidance

Feel free to PM me if you like.

Thanks

Double A

1) I prefer Wise County Park ramp. Easy to launch solo at, multiple lanes, good parking etc. Runaway Bay ramp is just fine as well but I prefer the Wise County ramp. Personal preference and nothing more. Never have had an issue with anything at either including leaving my truck while fishing.

2) Stay 25-50yds off the bank and you will be fine in most cases while running. The point(Lower Unit Point) as you leave the mouth of the river to main lake can be sketchy when the watrer is low but swing wide and no issues at all. Bridgeport is easy to run and navigate on. Idle if you go up into the creek etc till you know it better though.

3) Drop your TM and start covering water, fish stuff you like to fish and go from there. The lake is loaded with fish both in river and on mainlake. Shallow to deep. They like shad pattern crankbaits and smaller plastics it seems for the most part.

Have fun and go catch a bunch.

I agree with Mark on all 3..
If you are facing the ramps @ the Wise County Park the left ramps seem to work better with my 20' bass boat. The right(west)ramps have a pretty sharp drop off for my setup.

Only been once but highly recommend Wise County Park ramp and had a good day fishing the river ( west fork of the trinity ). Easy to run and only takes minutes to get there. Caught'em flipping bushes on rocky shorelines with green pumpkin Havoc craw worms. Also square bills early on points. Best luck in Bean Creek which is up the river. Check out a google map and you'll see these places. Love that lake but hard to get to from my place. Good luck.

If you use the Wise county park make sure you IDLE to the bouys. That is a no wake zone and the Game Warden is known to be at the ramp watching for boats that violate the no wake rule. I know this shouldn't have to be said but if you never been there the bouys are quite a bit away from the ramp.

Fished last weekend we were catching tons of 17 inch fish had a few overs targeting banks near deep water. Texas and wacky were putting them in the boat for us. Good luck
