Spring time fishing has been GREAT! Lot's of BIG fish are being caught and plenty of records have been set! Myself,Rick (Catyakker) and Clayton (Wildman of the Navidad) fished a lot of water bodies during the month of April. Records were made on all of the water bodies we fished. Live Oak Creek-Gillespie County,West Nueces River-Kinney County,Martinez Creek-Bexar County,Cibolo Creek-Bexar Co. Hondo Creek-Medina County,Lady Bird Park-Gillespie County, and the Perdernales River-Blanco County.14 Records were set during the month of April and one record was set in late March. A total of 15 records were set. There were 4 records set on Hondo Creek,1 Record on Martinez Creek,1 Record Lady Bird Park,2 Records set on Live Oak Creek,4 Records set on the Cibolo Creek,2 Records set on the West Nueces River, and 1 Record set on the Perdernales River. Green Sunfish,Redbreast Sunfish,Bluegill,Redear,Rios,Red Horse Sucker Fish, and a Large Mouth Bass made the record book. Four records were fly rod and Eleven were rod&reel. With two very mild past winters along with two good years of good rainfall, this has provided some very nice fish in our water bodies. 2018 is going to be a GREAT year for catching some nice fish.It already has. Here are a few of the fifteen records that were sent to the Texas Parks&Wildlife. Most have been posted on the TPW Web Site. Catching some super fish across Texas. It just don't get any better! fish

SWEEEEEEEET!!!!!!!!! 2 years of flooding and lots of bait fish leads to some big fat fish. I concur, the Year of the Slabs banana

I've set records for 2 buffalo, a Rio, a catfish and a Hybrid sunfish in the last month. And it's just now getting good. May should be even better.

Thanks Andrew,Jamie, and Clayton for the replies. Andrew: The show has just begun! hooked Jamie: May all the way till late fall should be SUPER good! thumb Clayton: There will be a lot of record fish being caught this year. An angler getting it registered is another story! Some will and some will not! Either way 2018 is going to be a very good year! rockon

What fun retirement can be. Fishing most every day targeting the big boys of most every flavor of sunfish that swims. Ultra light spinning rods, 2 wt fly rods, and medium action spinning rods for the 10+ lb Carp. Oh my. As Banker always says "it just don't get any better". thumb
