I have a new trailstar trailer with the swing-away tongue. How are you guys "locking up" your rigs to your tow vehicle?

It's new to me and I don't want to come back from fishing and find my trailer gone!

Use a locking pin on the tow bar, a lock on the trailer latch and a lock on the swing-away pin.

I think I've got the swing away pin figured out. But the little pin hootus that acts as safety to keep the ball coupler in place is very small in diameter, I guess they make some kind of locking apparatus for that?

I couldn't find anywhere else a lock might fit. I've only trailered it from the dealership to my house so far. Only had it four days now, I will look again when I get home tonight.

Thanks for your response!

I use a Master lock. I did have to grind it in 2 spots to make it fit.

It is difficult to find the lock you used using the link.

I had a trailer stolen using the type pictured above. It was not hooked up to the truck & they easily used a heavy hammer to beat it off the trailer tongue. This style tongue lock is not recommended.

I have a locking pin on the draw bat and use a long shank padlock for the trailer coupler and a coupler lock when not hooked to the truck. I have the UFP type coupler.

i guess you'd also need a lock on the trailer ball itself. otherwise, someone could just take the nut off the trailer ball, move the trailer ball to their hitch, reattach the nut, and drive away.

it sucks that we have to think about these things; when i was a kid, we left our front and back doors open at our house....
