Just looked at the picture again and noticed there is an Evinrude in the back ground. Hard to tell but they do look very similar.

I don't see any resemblance to the G2... I like the way the G2's look too. Maybe it's because I'm young. It has the same shape to it. I like the look of this merc better than the G2 though. Not a huge fan of the G2 but it's growing on me a tad bit. I'd rather have merc or yammy though

I think the shape of the cowling is because of the configuration of the engine, if they made the cowling more conventional looking it would be as big as a car hood. I guess I am going 4 stoke as well in the future, probably changing brand of boat as well, if you can't beat em then join em.  Say it ain't so

It looks just like all their other 4 stroke motors Mercury makes. So Im not really surprised. And I remember when the SHO first came out. Everyone said how ugly it was as well. Now its all you see as far as Yamaha goes.
