Most of the lakes I live near are less than 100 acres and "no wake." I have a kayak but want to add something with power for really windy days. Also, I would like to have good, basic electronics but not really sure what a guy needs since I've never owned any of these. I'm open to all recommendations as long as I don't have to paddle or pedal. If possible, I'm thinking of a max budget of $5,000. Thanks!

For that you can buy a used decked out john boat style Alum. rig on a trailer no problem.

Pond hopper type plastic boats are super stable and with a 30lb. thrust trolling motor will get you around just fine. You can get into a brand new one, with a trolling motor, battery, and a decent graph for about $1500. Add a little trailer and you are at $2500 or less. I used to fish from one of these and fished, Fork, Roberts, Toledo Bend, Monticello, etc.. you just have to use your head and be safe.

John boat has more room, plastic boat is probably a little cheaper.

Look into the Powered Kayaks... but in your price range you might be able to rig out a nice mini toon.

For those sized lakes I'd get a wide 15ft flatbottom and rig it out. 24v TM and good batteries you could go around a 100 acre lake 5 times. All you would need is 9.9hp big motor and you really might not even need that. A strong TM would be plenty
