Battery specialty store or on line about only place to get it.

I give it a D+. Pretty darn good senior engineering project but next time they need to contract out side and get someone who actually knows what they are doing to design the next one.

Same thing happened to mine. MK covered under warranty. Batteries can be delivered to your door these days. You can even have a backup.

Notaguide: Tell me more about being covered under warranty. Right now I am considering selling the motor I have and getting the new one with the AA batteries in the remote.

[quote=PKfishin]Good to know Jim. Perhaps I need to see if I can sell my older unit and get a new one. [/quote

Never heard anyone complain that much about several issues with these motors-you might want to get a new one or try anouther motor? You may have a lemon, it can be replaced if still under warranty
The battery deal- ?

Not sure where you are but you can get them at several places online and in stores.
I always keep a spare for a lot of my stuff so I don't have to try to find one while at a tournament

Hope they get you fixed up - I can't imagine fishing without the Ultrex now

I run the Minnkota Terrova Ipilot and love it. You can pick up the batteries for the remote at Wal-Mart on their battery display. Thats the only place ive bought mine.

I have the XI5 36 volt saltwater series and I love it. But it really has mostly to do with what electronics you prefer. I use the Lowrance HDS so it networks to my Motorguide and adds some very cool features. Go on YouTube and do searches on both and compare reviews. I went from a MK Powerdrive V2 to XI5 and really they are not even comparable, the XI5 is so much quieter and smoother running when in anchor mode you dont even know its on. I am sure the higher end MK models are nice as well they both make nice motors.

I have a RipTide, ipilot Minn Kota, very happy with it, it will occasionally do the wrap around thing too. I just disengage, use remote to spin it back a turn and re-engage, no biggie. Not sure if available with older units, but mine has an iphone app that lets you do about 90% of the functions from the iphone. A new replacement remote will probably have the AAA battery, and since you can pair multiple remotes to the same motor might eliminate the camera battery issue, lots cheaper than a whole new motor.
