I got interested in this pattern mainly because I have all this deer hair and one can only do so many bass bugs.

I really like it. Did four yesterday evening and they are a pretty quick and easy tie. These are on size 4 gamakatsu bonefish hooks. Weight is small tungsten dumbbell.

Put it before a jack this morning. Worked like a charm.

Tying instructions? Looks like a sculpin.

Great ties thumb

When I first started fly fishing I went to Orvis to buy some bass flies. The guys at Orvis sold me a couple of the Borski Bonefish sliders. They said the bass guys were doing very well with them. Sure enough, I caught several bass, including one over 4 lbs. That was the biggest bass I had caught on the fly at that time. I went to FTU today and picked up a couple items to tie some up.

Thanks for reminding me about these and thanks for sharing.

I read something that said the fish think a Borski Slider is a goby. Others say it resembles a shrimp. Like anyone knows what fish think. It looks fishy. I guess it checks the decision boxes that fish have that leads to an eat. Those boxes seem to swell and shrink depending on the day and fish. Hopefully, it will be a pattern thats better than it needs to be. Its nice having some options on the water and have something to fish with confidence.

I havent tried the sliders on Largemouth bass. I havent had good success with most of my other saltwater patterns in freshwater or the other way around. I need to tie some more sliders. The jack messed up one, a gafftopsail did another. I might do some different colors, weights, and hooks. Thats my usual MO with a pattern I like.

I bet that Jack was fun. My shoulder hurts every time I think about those fish.

Yes, plenty. So much so my fishing partner and I both decided one was enough.

I keep tying these in a variety of colors. Olive, pink and tan are my favorites.

Pink seems to be the way to go in the surf. Surf has been sandy, but the fish don't care. Went out this morning and got five from 16-20" in 45 minutes. Went into work and left them biting.

Used a cream colored Borski Slider this morning. Got a couple of specks, a croaker and this whiting.

Went out yesterday, checked out the rough surf and ended up ankle wading/shore fishing a little spot I had never been to. Used only a pink borski slider, a beat up one, and caught a couple of specks, a croaker, and a sheepshead. Lost a couple more specks and missed another fish or two. Fished maybe 50 yards of shoreline at midday. Cast at bait swirls and bait being pushed around. Water had about a foot of visibility with a green tint. People fishing nearby with bait or lures werent catching anything.

The borski slider is definitely a versatile pattern.
