After chasing white bass and running jug lines Mon, Tues, Wed with a friend from Sugarland, I was ready to check the crappie.
Bite was strong until the north wind kicked up about 10 mph around 10. All these fish were in 8 ft to 18" of water. Some females still had eggs and looked ready to lay. After the north wind started, it was really hard to get them to bite. Some short hits and misses. Had to finesse them to get a bite. Left at noon with 20.

Good J.O.B Ken! Been a different year so far. February 28th we were catching bunches of spawning fish right on the bank with the quick warming shallow areas. Few days later.....very few with the fronts and the water temp dropping fast. Next week shallow fish and staging fish in the spawning areas. Next week or so, water temps drop and near nothing. Easter Sunday was a massacre with everybody and their brother catching fish from the bank and boat. Next couple days...more big fronts and nothing. This past week catching some sows ready to pop.....some done spawned out. We are going into MAY!!!!!! Strange weather and year! I got in some HUGE bass in February to 13#+ then nothing. Now I've got a few and they haven't spawned and up to nearly 13#!!!

Definitely right Bill. Strange year. Back in March we had some days hitting high 80s to 90 and I thought this is gona be one of those hot summers. Then the weather pattern totally changed. Fish are playing hide and seek most of the time.
