Taking the family to Lake Mineral Wells state park, wondering if anyone has had any experience there and wants to share their advice. Bass, crappie, bream - it doesn't matter to us, we just keep fishing fun. Thanks!

The lake has good populations of bass, crappie and catfish. The bream are stunted. It is too early for bream anyway. They are still scattered in the deep water. Try the fishing piers for crappie. The pier at the marina and the one directly across the lake are both good. Minnows are best this time of year. You will have to take them with you because the marina hours are uncertain.
A plus is the lake does not require a fishing license.

Good experience at lake mineral wells last weekend. Had good success working cleared spots on the bank for lmb with texas rigged plastic worms. Saw a couple of guys doing some good with catfish down near the dam using dip bait. This is a beautiful park close to DFW with lots to do with for family - go and enjoy it!
