AMart was dubbed the natural, and he is. But JL's a natural who's IQ doesn't get in the way of his fishing.
The future is bright! Id like to picture jlee as an ole country boy who like to fish. Thats how he comes off to me at least I like to picture Jesus in a tuxedo T-shirt because it says I want to be formal, but I'm here to party.

On Bass Live - Skeet asked a couple guys on the bank if they had caught anything - to which they said they had only caught 4. Not sure how they rule is interpreted, but it would make me nervous.

To me that would be outside the rule if he solicited the info. Tells him a little about that area. Now if they just spit it out then that's different. That's the problem with the rule. What isn't outside of it? Too many things can be considered information. Sooner or later it's going to be a mess. I would be for getting all the info you can. It's the Information Age. I can't see how it taints fishing anymore than other sports. For example in Baseball they have scouting reports. Why not just have them show up cold turkey and see if the pitcher can strike out the batter just on ability without the knowledge he can't hit the inside low stuff? There is also a thing such as bad information. You still have to execute on the lake. They will not let you weigh in information . One thing for certain you wouldn't have to enforce a get all the info you can rule.

I thought the same thing when I saw that live. Not that I think he should be accused of a violation, but it would make me nervous as well. Thats just standard greet when meeting someone fishing.

It's really not that hard to understand. They can talk to each other all they want. They can't get outside info not available to the public.

To me that is just a standard question that is asked between fishermen. That questions been around since time began. Now if he starts asking them specific questions about lures or presentations then I would see it as a breach of the rules.

Now if he starts asking them specific questions about lures or presentations then I would see it as a breach of the rules. I agree completely. The problem with the rule is that it is open to interpretation. I just wouldn't take that chance. If skeet asked that question and the person on the bank said he was catching them like crazy, and skeet continued to fish there, how would it be viewed. I think it was Jason Christie (at the classic last year) on Bass Live that made a point to the camera that 'he did not ask for that information' when the fan yelled out edwin's weight.

I would think there are some benefits to them soliciting information from locals who really know the lake and its patterns. But for me, Michael Jordan asking me to help with his jumpshot would not be of much help.
I can also imagine somebody soliciting information without "soliciting" by making open statements like.... "I love to fish jerkbaits, in shad color". One way to do it is like how insider information is treated; unless it's publicly available information, they should disclose it. Or they can cover it during the lie detector test about soliciting information.
