I am fairly new to the DFW area and was wondering if anyone could point to some good bluegill/perch lakes. I relocated up here from The Woodlands where I would chase these fun fish on Conroe and Raven. I am out of fillets in the freezer and looking to start stocking up for some summer fish fries. I would be fishing from a 16' jon boat with 60hp.
I havent seen much chatter on forums of DFW area lake for these fish. While researching I have noticed Lake Lavon being a good perch lake. With the weather being a roller coaster this spring I am not sure if they have them all twisted up on when they should be spawning.
The weather is looking good this weekend with winds down finally and I am planning to fish Fri and Sat.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

maytag44 to the TFF! Glad to have you on board. As for DFW area lakes I do not fish that area and therefore would not be any help! There are several anglers in the DFW area who post here and hopefully some of them will respond! Side Note: This has already been a GREAT year with plenty of nice fish being caught!

Might want to look at Ray Hubbard. The riprap and bridge pilings on I30 hold fish. Boat ramps are near there.
Don't worry about the mule, just load the cart

Maytag44 you may want to check out this website ( www.bluegillcabins.com). They are located near Canton Tx. Good luck!

I've done well, with my son, on Grapevine. Seems most any rocky point will hold 'gills. I have a favorite spot on the south end that hasn't turned on yet--though I didn't get to try it this weekend. Last May we slayed them (through August as well). So, maybe in the next week or two. Funny thing about the 'vine, I don't think you could even buy a weed there. Someone on the forum might have an explanation, but there just doesn't seem to be any aquatic vegetation.
