Anyone have any experience with buying a remanufactured trolling motor?
Good or bad?

Does it come with a warranty?

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

I was told when I carried one in for a repair that they aren't used motors but were caught on the line with some defect or flaw and had to be sent back to the start to get redone correctly and marked as re manufactured. I had a Terrova that worked flawlessly for a few years until I sold it. I bought an ulterra that I had to send in for repairs to the auto stow/deploy. It was repaired with no questions asked. I think that I might buy an ulterra new because of the complexity in the auto stow and deploy because I'd rather have the longer warranty next time but pretty much anything else, I wouldn't hesitate to buy reman if the price was worth it. Just keep your receipt

I bought my X5i off HodgesMarine almost a year and a half ago for about half price. Looked brand new and havent had any issues. Only possible down side is they only come with a 1 year warranty instead of 2 but you can purchase an extended warranty.

The best thing about buying remanufactured is that you get 100% QC, whereas with new stuff, they only sample so many units off the assembly line.

If it comes with a warranty, its a no-brainer to me.

Fishin' to stock Lake Crisco.

Sometimes and sometimes not Captain Yakker LOL!!....I bought a 2017 Re-manufactured Ulterra and
was doing the Ulterra launch when it stopped working. It drifted off to the back of a cove and I had to call my Bro-in-Law with his boat to help me retrieve it. I took it to All Star Archery & Marine and they had found a small metal washer that was free floating inside the motor chamber until it got stuck. But after that all has been good. The only other problem I had was me having to replace my trolling batteries.
Incidentally neither Minnkota or All star had never seen a problem like that. Hope this helps.

I had a powerdrive 74# auto pilot that did me solid for 5 or more years in and out of saltwater that was a refurb that I bought second hand. No issues what so ever until it was way out of support and it needed a control board that hadn't been made in a couple of years and was non existent.

I replaced that with an Ulterra that I bought used too. This one wasn't a refurb. It has been in and out of the authorized dealer for the last 4 months with a consistent gremlin that with the help of over 900 dollars and patience with it being broken more than it has been working has finally been fixed. I'm hard on them though and Ulterra don't like the saltwater. Especially the freshwater models. But I have to have the build in transducer for crappie fishing on lakes and they don't make a riptide model with the transducer in the motor foot.

When it works, it works great. When it doesn't, it makes you want to throw rocks and alter boys.
