Gotta know something, just stopped in to pick up a trolling motor adapter for my side imagining and the guy said that side imaging won't work worth a doodoo on the front because when the trolling motor turns it will distort the image. Is this true? Should I keep both on the transom of my boat?

It works fine on the trolling motor. Yes there will be a little distortion when you turn but it is still readable. You would use it knowing which way the motor is headed and where it is reading. Can even slowly turn the head to see what is ahead of you. It is very similar to how a humminbird 360 works. that is basically a spinning side imaging transducer inside the fixture and people have been using them for quite a while.
It might take you a bit more practice to read it effectively but it will work. If you are going straight then there would be no distortion just like the transom mount.

If you do a search, probably in the general equipment section, you will find posts by Wayne about this and he will have screen shots of what it looks like on his unit when it is properly dialed in.

IMO It works if you maintain a constant speed and match the chart speed accordingly. Not very helpful for sitting in one spot however.

Sorry guys, been trying to rewire this thing... I'm gonna have to get in touch with somebody to help me out and rewire these things. I ended up keeping both (ducers) bow and console units on transom because I can't get any power to my helix 9 on the front. Ive been fighting it every day this week. It's beyond my capabilities... If y'all have any recommendations in the Longview area let me know. I don't really wanna bring it to a shop because they will charge me an arm and a leg. I would rather bring it to someone house.
