Does anyone have any experience with side scan imaging on a bonafide? Does it work or does the hull affect the imaging?

I have down and side imaging. I haven't found it all that useful. But I have the Helix 5 and the screen is small. The most useful feature that I have found is maps. Find what contour the fish are on and follow that contour to fill the cooler.

I don't go too fast but I go pretty far.

The yak won't matter. Your transducer must be below the boat. I have a Hobie PA so I made the existing ducer place work. If I get the HD ducer I will probably use a swing arm to get it below the yak.

I have a Bonafide SS127 and a Helix7 SI and it does great! I find so much structure out to the sides that I would have never found without SI.

Shaun, is the transducer below the hull in the water or are you saying that your side imaging shoots through the hull?

Bought a Chirp Helix 7 Si G2 and have my transducer shipped into Humminbird for the upgrade to the UHS 9 HD SI 180T. Just waiting on the HD transducer to arrive before the install.

I used the standard humminbird bracket and it sits right at the hull. I mean like flush. I have some pictures I can send if you want to pm me your number. Or they are posted on my FB page too.

Thanks Shaun, the FB photos were a big help. I must have heard it wrong and am passing along bad info. I thought that the Side Imaging transducers HAD to have a clean line of sight to either side of the boat. I know that your transducer is in the water, but it looks like the side imaging is working through the two Bonafide pontoons that sit in the water on the boat.

I'm jealous, your boat looks pretty spectacular.

I too thought the same about not being able to shoot through, But I have been impressed with the performance of the unit. If you get a chance give me a holler and we can meet up at one of the event around here and let you take it for a spin.

On my PA12 I bought a small Transducer to mount in the Hobie "hole" and put the LSS Transducer on the swing arm to hang over the side. fish

Flukemaster on Youtube has a video now showing how he sets up his SI on a Bonafide. Might give you a few ideas and shed some light on it.

I have Flukemaster on my subscription list already and really enjoy his channel. He has solid fishing and kayaking information. Thanks for sharing the video.
