Had the privilege and opportunity to fish a piece of the West Nueces River. Myself and Rick aka Catyakker met up with Leo (Gar 1970) and his wife Pot licker (Yesenia). I along with Rick fished a section of the river that is in Leo's and Yesenia's back yard. The bite was very good and the water was crystal clear. We caught a bunch of very nice Redear and Bluegill. Most of them were well over a half pound and in the 9" range. Several nice bass in the 2 to 3 pound range were also caught. We also caught two fish that will be submitted for water body records. A .59 Lb Bluegill caught by Rick on the flyrod using a wacky worm, and a 10" Redear caught by myself using ultralight tackle with live worms. (Will be posting a report on "April's Record Fest" next week!) All fish were released to fight again! We were also shown the jig arsenal that both Leo and Yesenia have. Yesenia also prepared a FANTASTIC lunch of enchiladas, rice, and beans, along with ice cold sweet tea. Meeting friends and fishing in God's Country! It just don't get any better!

When you catch a fish you feel the door to happiness open
Wow...the "Lunch" itself was well worth the drive. We didn't need to eat again until supper the next day. Fantastic vittles, and the fishing, oh my, the fishing was beyond description. We watched BIG Bass and all flavors of sunfish, just swimming around waiting for anything we had to offer. Great folks live in that part of the country and Pot licker and and Gar1970 are among the best. Again thanks to Banker and our Hosts for all the great memories.
