Planning a trip to this lake soon, any info I can get would be great. With the rains we had the water should be up, but clear/dinggy?

I have fished Waxahachie pretty regular for a few years. Been tough a lot of the time for me but it has taught me a lot about details and adapting. Hopefully Steez will chime in shortly with some advice. He is a guru on lakes around here.

I've only been to Lake Wax once and seems like I remember fishing in some sort of aeration or pump type setup by the dam. I think all we caught were small sand bass. Is there any structure to speak of for summertime bass?

I found one good brush pile and marked some fish on it, no takers. The docks I hit ended up being super shallow so I didnt feel good about those. Ended up catching 10 in the rocks in the dam. I lice in Midlo, so Ill be going back. Im in a white Legend with a red stripe. If youre ever out there and see me, say hello.

There are good fish in that lake but they see a lot of lures. Stay back off the cover as much as you can, make long accurate casts and slow down. I caught my PB (10lb on an old cheap scale) out there in late September a couple of years ago fishing super slow at night. I lost one at the boat this year that was probably a little smaller than that. She was in less than a foot of water when it was 90-95 degrees out... Good luck and have fun. If you see a tall guy fishing off the back of an old red Ranger, be sure to say hello.

I was out 2 or 3 weeks ago. Caught 3 and should have had 3 more. One big fish hit my brush hog and ate the bottom part right before he got to the hook. Another one broke my 10lb flouro leader which I should have changed out after catching a few fish on it. That one was on me. Had another 3-4 pounder that was able to shake off the hook. If I'd have had the rod tip down, I'd of landed that one. There is a lot of rock on that lake so I'd suggest C-Rig. There is a lot of rock by the island and several other places. Look at the topo and find drop offs with rocky shore and you're good to go. Only fished it that one time so I'm no expert on the lake, but found it pretty easy to fish.
