Looks like a letter specifically to the NRA. Have not seen one cancelling other programs.

***Don't care either way. YETI is overpriced status symbol stuff.

Probably should have thought a little harder about the timing of this move. It will certainly hurt their business.

It looks to me like YETI was taking it in the shorts as far as margins go. They canceled programs where they were either losing money, or werent making much.

Thats the only thing that makes sense because of the IP, digital assets, etc. they want removed. If it was free advertising, they would take it. They dont want folks ordering off a program that they deem isnt making money.

If Im right, I think they should have explained that. Not all, but most, understand that type of thing.

Instead they probably confused the NRA, who then did what they did.

My guess is that will not be the last we hear of this spat.

I agree. I will say that taking it in the shorts might not be the best phrase to describe what was happening. If RTIC and others were copying Yetis designs (which was a law suit a few years ago), then Im pretty sure the margins Yeti has enjoyed were healthy to begin with.

I think they were, which is why they never discount their coolers and are twice as expensive as the closest competitors. When you add in their marketing campaigns, which are obviously not cheap, their margins get smaller, but, when bundled together, mean their margins are tight, so youre correct.

Yeti billed itself as the best, and had to maintain the expensive marketing campaigns and influencer campaigns (which still come out of the marketing budget) to cater to the lifestyle and hardcore customers they targeted. But they had to keep the prices higher than competitors due to both the high marketing budgets and also the appearance of being the best.

It was cyclical in that way. They couldnt lower prices either from a product appeared value standpoint or because their marketing budget is so high. I really think the relatively recent purchase by the equity group and the attempts to take it public via IPO are to blame more than anything for ending the discounts for the charity groups, which was really just another marketing ploy, in my opinion.

Some will believe Yeti, some the NRA!
I do know the order Yeti cancelled with the NRA Foundation after the Fla. shooting was $750K(makes me believe Yeti will still be okay) and this was before the change in the policy they mention in their public statement. I don't know if what Hammer states about Yeti telling the NRA to cease using the Yeti logo is true, but if it is...
I really don't care, I have more important stuff to worry about. Like having enough gas to get to the chicken guys house to have fresh water in a zombie apocalypse!

I have one of the 30oz Yeti cups and bought some WalMart 20oz I think Ozark Trail, and a 30oz Academy one and can't tell the difference in those. If I was in the market for a large hard cooler, it'd probably be the RTIC because I'm cheap and the cheap cups work well enough!

They didn't name names but it appears they intended to close individual legacy ordering channels and streamline it through their custom ordering channel that they have used for years.
