Pondering an inexpensive 308 'battle rifle' that I wouldn't be afraid of dropping and scratching up on hog hunts. Have read a few reviews, and most seem to say that it's the AK of 308 rifles - durable and holds up well in bad environments (dust, sand) but not terribly accurate past about 300 yards.

Does anyone have experience with one of these to confirm this?

If you think you are going to be dropping it, you probably don't need to be buying a gun.

Don't write off a gun because of accuracy beyond 300 yds. Carefully evaluate where you plan to hunt and how many 300+ yard shots you are likely to have. The answer is much lower than you think. Also, 9 out of 10 shooters can't shoot accurately beyond about 250 yards no matter what rifle they are holding.

I don't know anything about the Century Arms version, but I've shot several variants of the H&K Battle Rifle and I much prefer the AR-10 platform to the H&K.

Any particular reasons?

Didn't seem to handle or fit me well and overall felt "clunky." They all functioned OK, even the select fire one when set to auto, and accuracy was acceptable for open sites.
