Fished Fork on Monday. Didn't know what to expect as its been a while since I was last there. No size but stayed entertained for the day. Caught one on squarebill, one on frog, a couple on senkos and 5 on swimbaits.

That one photo'd looks pretty danged big to me! I love your comment about staying "entertained." Sometimes it is the scenery, the company, catching a big fish or a bunch of smaller fish . . . but most times out for me are a blast. No, getting skunked is rarely fun but that doesn't happen very often for most of us.

I was expecting water clarity to be much worse than it actually was... not too bad. Weird day as I threw three different spinner baits off and on all day and never got bit. Only saw two other bass boats all day. Neither stayed long so I had the place to myself. Most of the fish were 15 to 17.5 inches. All caught on the very edge of the thickest vegetation. Nothing in water over 2 feet deep, nothing more than a foot out from the vegetation. No bites up against wood where I hoped I would find them unless mixed with mats. They weren't moving out from under the shade to get it even though it was cloudy most of the day. Can understand why boaters might be having a tough time as casting from where a boat would be positioned, I never got bit. Had to get right up against the bank/vegetation and run the swimbait exactly over the edge. When I found an area I that looked good I would make the same cast over and over then move one cast further. It was like the first few casts were either making the fish mad enough to bite or the fish had to be coaxed out from way back in the mats. Rarely got bit on the first cast to new stretch of bank. Color didn't seem to matter on the plastic swimbaits as I changed colors three times. Probably missed as many as I caught.

Went looking deep (20+ feet) around noon but didn't see much on graph and enjoyed being out of wind for a change. Did drop a flutter spoon on a couple of schools of bigger fish I spotted and caught white bass. Kept getting hung up in timber with the spoon and gave up as I had just purchased a few that morning and didn't want to waste them on these guys.

I went out late yesterday evening, posted a photo up in "Bluegill" showing a Warmouth I caught at the very end as I was coming in with daylight dimming off.

4 bass caught first but I would have had a few more but took a phone call and sat there in absolute dead water talking with a friend I have known for 52 or so years. Worth the time, for sure, but it cost me 20 or 30 casts or more.

As with Iconn4's comments, I too found the bass snugged up to the vegetation line and not straying too far off of it. What I often do is glide into the vegetation or mats of it, especially on windier days, then cast down the edge in both directions. I say cast but to be more accurate, I make medium to long pitches.

*** If anyone wants to try a different presentation, I'd recommend experimenting with a weightless soft jerk bait, I use a Keitech Shad Impact in the 4" model, and cast or pitch it out. If it doesn't get hit while sinking or just after it hits the water, then, well . . . I have been actually using a finesse retrieve. I actually let it sit there on the bottom for up to a minute, then pull it back a little either just smoothly lifting it up or twitching the line, then letting it sit again. Like retrieving a T-Rigged worm fished on the bottom.

It seems to be working for now, has over the past month. Keitechs are really salty so I suppose if a fish comes over to inspect what appears to be a dead or dying shad, picks it up and nibbles on it, it's going to get that salty taste and hang on to it. Anyway. Sure, when bass are really active, you might try faster retrievals, more typical jerk bait speeds.

Dang I love the looks of that place. I really need to make time to get back down there.
