Was fishing a pond and catching quite a few dinks with a jerkbait. One ate it pretty good and as soon as I put the pliers in his mouth to remove the hook, he flounced. And boom, buried that hook right into my thumb. Another thing, what hooks do y'all use as replacements on the vision jrs.

Wow! Were you able to pop it out yourself, or did you have to head to the doctor? The thumb is a very bad place to impale a hook. I have been a bass fishing enthusiast for right at 60 years, and I am still unstuck (so to speak). I hope my luck holds out for a long time.

I bet that did hurt, pushing it through. There is a easy and most of the time a pain free way to get them out.

Everyone should memorize this hook removal technique. Works every time with all different hook types: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NfSGAso5vpI

Ain't no way I'd push that through. Simple hook removal technique would work.

Had to do "the trick" on myself last year I buried one deep in my calf! First two pulls it didn't come out. BTW it hurts kinda bad when you yank and it doesn't come out! Third pull I held the hook shank down like your supposed to and yanked hard, it worked perfect, kept on fishing.

My wife is an ER nurse, I showed her how to do this, she has showed several docs the youtubes but they refuse to do it. They don't teach free ways to get hooks out in med school.

See you on the lake and have a great day!

My fishing partner got two of three barb's of a Whopper plopper in his forearm last spring. Took a piece of braid and pulled both out at the same time. He said it looked like I had done that before. Nope first time!! He had a fit after I told him that. Lol!!

I have used the fishing line technique to remove hooks from two of my friends. One hooked himself in the thumb with a rattletrap and I hooked the other in the back of the head with a 4/0 when we were fishing with three of us in the boat. I worked the first time on both of them. I did cut the hook off the trap before trying it, of course.

The guy with the hook in his head said it didn't hurt at all. He was only mad at me for not taking a picture of it first so he could show it to everyone.

it ain't a matter of "if"...if you fish long enough, you or one of your buddies is gonna get a hook in you buried up past the barb....
removing a hook with a piece of fishing line is a very simple technique that works well and usually is painless.....YOU WOULD BE WELL ADVISED TO GO TO YOU TUBE AND LEARN HOW TO DO IT.....the alternative is a trip to the emergency room or a very painful cutting the hook off and pushing it through...
