I have a 2000 Yamaha VMAX 225 and it will run great right out of the gate but on the second time getting on plane it will get up to about 52mph and then it will shutdown to 4000 rpm and not go any higher. I have replaced t

1. Plugs (seemed to foul with low amount of time on them)
2. VST filter
3. Screen on regulator on back side of VST tank
4. Filter inside canister on side of motor
5. Inline filter between canister and low pressure pumps
6 All 3 low pressure pumps
7. Cleaned O2 sensor (good bit of carbon build up)
8. Pressure on VST tank with key turned to the right was reading 38-40psi but would drop to 20 psi within a few seconds (not sure if it's suppose to do that.

No alarms are going off when the drop in RPM's happen

I dont claim to be a boat mechanic, but i recently purchased a 2001 skeeter with a yamaha VMAX 225 ox66, that had been sitting for about 4 years. I had to go through the entire fuel system on it. My fuel pressure on the VST tank stayed at 36-38psi for at least 30 seconds. I really didnt check it for bleeding off, just checked for the proper fuel pressure.

The only problem i have with mine is that it loses its prime after sitting for a few days. Extended crank, but will eventually start, I Have to pump the bulb, and it fires right up. Never had to do that with my Optimax
