Well I took my Bonafide out on her maiden voyage Sunday. Was out there for maybe 30 min trying to paddle about and fish but... It just didn't happen. I would stop to make a cast and would be 10 feet from where I stopped in about 10 seconds. Maybe next time I go out the wind won't be as bad. It was pretty awesome being out there though! The pic really doesn't show the wind as much as I though it would. But it was super windy. If you look, you can see my jig being held out from the rod by the wind.

Props for trying. I never realized how consistently windy North Texas Springs were until I got a kayak. I end up fishing from the bank until the wind dies down. Weekends seem to be the worst!!!

It seems to always be nice outside when you're stuck at work, but when you get to the week end it's almost never nice. Or at least with my luck it isn't lol.

I can't wait to take her out again when the wind isn't wanting to blow me over to the next county lol. It's made me realize that I really need to look at getting an anchor.

I do most of my kayak fishing on Grapevine and can nearly always find a cove that is protected from the wind. Yesterday Twin Coves hardly had a ripple while there were white caps on the main lake due to the West/Northwest wind direction. Check Google or Bing Maps for your lakes to find coves and launch areas that will work under different wind directions.

When I start to go out on actual big lakes I'll need to keep that in mind. The "lake" that I fish at is really a big pond... really big, so I tend to just call it a small lake. The only problem with it is that there are no coves or anything protected from the wind. So when I go out there, if the wind is going crazy, it's all over the place lol.

A drag chute and anchor trolley will help quite a bit.
