I received a sonar hub, from lowrance when I sent in my hds 9 for repair, ended up upgrading to a HDS 12 it is a Gen 2.

Question, Other than networking multiple units. Is their any reason to install this unit, Box
states Chirp sonar and best in class Structure scan*hd.

The install sheet shows the structure scan transducer going directly to Unit, So don't see how it will enhance the structure scan.

very confused
thanks in advance

You will notice a clearer picture on gen 1 & 2 if they are routed through the hub. I have the same unit and noticed a difference after installing the sonar hub.

Be warned, with that box you get either chirp OR side imaging, but you CANNOT get both at the same time.

It is routed through the ethernet cable. Gen 2 HDS doesn't have chirp so there isn't anything to worry about. The hub isn't necessary on the Gen 3 or newer models.
