Perfect day...no wind...not too hot...water temp 73 degrees...however the fish were not biting all that good. Started out mid lake for gills & crappie...the spots I tore em up 3 weeks ago...nada. Headed back up river to my cypress trees & started getting a few. Tried some deeper spots up river for red ear...nada. Ended up with 3 catfish around 2 lb ea. , 5 smallish bass , and around 25 bluegills...mostly redbreast. All caught on night crawlers except for one caught on a crappie jig. The last photo is a bunch of deer swimming across the river...

Thanks for the replies/comments. I really don't think the sunnies are spawning yet...Looked for beds in the gravel/sandy areas and saw nothing...unless they spawn deeper ??

You are right Vogey. The sunnies are not spawning yet on Dunlap or the other two major river lakes. I would think the early part of May would be my guess. hmmm

Side Note: I have seen a few fish on nest in the creeks. thumb

I fished Mcqueeney the other day and did not see any nest at the usual spots. Thinking also early May for the river lake spawn. Also I have seen a few fish on nest while creek fishing. Creek fish are really showing off their colors!
