Is now a good time to be carp fishing? I believe some are starting to spawn, and not an expert on carp. I've always fished for them in the summer and done good. Not usually this time of the year. Thanks for any help. Planned on chumming with corn and throwing some rods in with family.

Give it a shot. When the carp are actively thrashing the shallows spawning I have not had much luck. However, there may well be carp staging in the shallows that would be more likely to bite.

Carp can be had year around. I go when I can no matter the month, unless it is heat stroke hot or freezing cold. April can be good for some of the largest carp around, the big spawners of those just post spawn. I should be hitting them quite soon depending on this weekends rain.

mid April post spawn is fabulous time. If you don't see any thrashing it's time for catching!

if your into fishing with others we are have our monthly fish in in Coppell the 28th . we will be there from most of the day . you can come at your convenience we usually fish from 7 am till around 5 pm ,this month we will hit Andrew Brown East . if interested give me a holler ..... as far as spawn they tend to change yearly depending on water temp . so far i havent seen signs of spawning but others have at the lake i usually fish . been to busy working so i may have missed it . but casting close in will usually get you a bite although alot of anglers will tell you they dont bite during the spawn

Carp bait is different after spawn, it is often more accurate, but the fish is stronger than a month ago! Much more fan (also, a bit more complicated). Go get it! It is there and it sure is very hungry!
