Anyone been in the last few days? I would think they are about to get on the beds. I plan to go Saturday to Conroe.

The spawn is right around the corner! Seeing a few in the creeks on beds. Nothing on the lakes and rivers. Give it another week or two. Just my two cents. 2cents

Side Note: On the lakes in my area I am finding good fish in 8 to 12 feet of water by docks and brush piles. thumb

Never fished any of the lakes. For what I have heard they are both GREAT sunfish fisheries. Hope to fish both of those lakes in the near future. woot

Side Note: There have been some past post on both Conroe/Raven over the years. All have been good if my memory serves me. hmmm

Yes. I have only caught 1-2 shell crackers on Conroe in the last 10 years. Have seen more of those on Raven. Would love to hear of more on Conroe but seems to be mainly Copper Nose bream IMO.

My dad caught 30 bream on crickets last Friday--12 or so over a lb. The smallest keeper 9 oz. This was the first time this year they they were really biting. He got into some shell crackers last fall averaging 3/4 lb on walden. First he had caught all year. I'm headed out there next Monday to get in on the action. I have a new a new lure ( black trout magnet) that is deadly on bream. I want to see if I can out fish crickets.....

The fishing on both is heating up. We caught some nice redear about 3 weeks ago on Raven. As for Conroe, the water has been a little dirty from recent rains so the info I have been getting is they are scattered as far as the big ones go.

The bite on Conroe is still slow. No beds. The way the temperature keeps fluctuating is really messing with them. My biggest this year has been a Redear just over 10" and the biggest bluegills have been 9 3/4"

I live right next to Raven--where are the best bet areas? Docks, dam, shallows?

I side scanned a few spots that have had beds in recent years and saw nothing on Conroe this afternoon for what it’s worth.

Were the redear on Raven in grass patches or out in open on beds?

I would stay a few feet off the bank when fishing Lake Raven. As the warmer weather shows up so does the hydrilla. Fish on the outer edge and you will do fine.
