When fishing a submerged green light that is submerged say 12 feet on bottom, where's the "sweet spot" to focus jigging. Closest to the bright area or where the light meets darker area. Thinking the fish hang out to ambush at the edge of light, but haven't had any luck.

Bring the light up, float the top of it and let the rest of it stay below the surface...pitch out into the darkness and let your rig fall back into the light...if using minnows, drop thr minnow just inside the lighr, so the crappie can see it flash, as it struggles...make sure you got Shad circling the light or you may not have any crappie around...

I keep my light up near the surface, and fish down from 12 to 18 feet in the outer glow of the light.

Yikes, I guess a Marina that I fish at has their light in an odd spot. Last I heard, they had it sunk off the dock and at the bottom in about 10 -12 feet. Guess that 'splains why i haven't had any luck

Guess that 'splains why i haven't had any luck If you are fishing a marina light...cast out into the darkness, allow the jig to hit bottom, and sit....then bump it along the bottom, slowly...the crappie should pick it up as it falls back to the bottom as you bump it back to you...so be sure to keep your finger in contact with the line, at all times to feel the bite and keep your rod in the 10 oclock position, with the just a slight bit of slack in your line...you should get bit, just before the jig comes out of the darkness into the light, most of the time...if any crappie are hanging around...also, you can drop your jig straight down beside a dock post...drop it on the bottom and occasionally, lift it a foot off the bottom slowly, hold it for a bit, then drop it back on the bottom, and repeat the process...I like to fish the dark side of these posts...if this doesnt work...then I suggest you dont fish it till after midnight until about 5am...crappie usually show up on a submerged dock light, but sometimes dont make it there until after midnight...I used to fish such a dock and the crappie never showed up before midnight...
