That round white disk with a button that flashes red when you push it. Is it just for jog or does it
help the spot lock stay on course?

Some on here say it is only for the jog feature. MK says it is for the jog and other features but they don’t say what those other features are.

Supposedly it "enhances" spot lock.....but I personally don't think it does. I think, from what I can tell having owned one for a year and a half, that it only works the jog feature and controls the "N" button for using auto pilot.

If you point it in a directon and hit the “N” button it will hold that speed and heading until you cancel it

It is a compass and keeps you going in the right direction. The head of the motor spins so It is your bearing.

Using the N button worked on the old ones without the sensor heading puck but maybe it enhances it. I can't tell a difference in it between the old unit and the new bluetooth unit as far as using the N button.

I don't think he's the only one that likes their Ultrex. I know I like having the best TM money can buy.

For real DJB, best thing that ever happened to a bass boat. Prolly those that have a Ultrex will disagree with me but I think the GPS puck helps with the spot lock as well as the other features. The stop lock and lift assist are the two features I like the most. Still learning to use the Ipilot.

My Ultrex puck has not been working for the past month (too busy working and fishing to fix it) and I have not noticed any degradation of the SpotLock or Auto Pilot performance, just cannot use the jog feature.

The Heading Sensor (compass) is used for the jogging feature. It gives the GPS direction when sitting still or less than .6 mph.
When you choose to jog 5' left, the Heading Sensor indicates where left is.
It needs that orientation since GPS cannot calculate direction unless it moves a certain distance in a certain amount of time (course).
It has nothing to do with North other than the compass is oriented North just like any other compass.
It also makes positioning more accurate due to the lack of direction calculation by GPS.
