I'm not looking for Giants, just want to do some light tackle fishing. Haven't been there in years, and used to have fun catching them at the marina. Any help is a appreciated, I am sure it has changed since my last time there.

The Lynn Creek Marina has a section in front where they feed the fish, and I swear there are more catfish, carp, and buffalo there than there is water. Never caught any big ones there, but I've only fished there once so maybe it was just bad luck. If you can cast well, get your bait underneath the walkway to the marina and into the pool where they feed the fish, in no time you'll have a bite!

Catch and release. The dream - to catch one of every species of Freshwater fish in our great state! If only I can resist Carp...

The carp are moving into the shallow water at the marina. From now until next fall the early morning bite will be good. Use home made dough bait on a treble hook.

Make the bait with one cup crushed Wheaties, one cup wheat flour, and one cup of Magic Bait Chum (available at Walmart).Moisten the mixture with Big Red soda until it makes a firm ball.

Cast as far under the bridge as you can.

Hold on to your rod!

When I fished the marina, I used a small simple bread ball packed tightly around a small size 6 hook. Leave the point of the hook slightly exposed. I did not use a weight. Like Smithhaven said, Cast as far towards the walkway bridge as you can. If you can't get close on your cast, add as small of a weight (split shot) as you can to get where you need the bait to be. I always dropped a second line right straight down next to the dock to catch the occasional buffalo.

The carp will try to take your rod into the lake. Be careful to keep it secure. The buffalo are very light biters.

"Joe pool still a carp hotspot?"

Yes! You can fish anywhere on the lake for Carp. Just take plenty of sweet corn and start chumming a clear area where you can safely battle the fish, easily land them, etc, etc. Throw a few cans of corn out. Wait a while, then place several kernels all the way up the hook, onto the line as well. Throw this out a bit past your chum line and wait...well...hold on and wait. Every time you catch a fish throw a handful or 2 out in your area. This time of year you shouldn't have to fish too far out. Once the action starts it should be non stop until you get bored. Expect the majority of fish in the 4-7lb class with the occasional 10+. Don't feel bad taking some home for the grill or for bait. This place is loaded with Carp and could use more anglers harvesting more fish.

Thinking about going tomorrow. May go to Lynn park instead of marina. I drove by yesterday on my way somewhere and the fish barge looked like a porcupine with rods. Lol. The park with wide open spaces is more my style.
