LAKE FORK GUIDE TRIPs 2018

Eric Wright #972 757 7947

I want to thank everyone who came out last season for a guided fishing trip with me on Lake Fork. I was very blessed on and off the water last year and look forward to this season. I’m most proud of bringing home our new son Easton for his sister London to play with. I’m also proud to have finished the 2017 season 4th in points in the Costa FLW Southwestern Division. 2017 was a great year and I look forward to 2018.

Last season we began sight fishing in late Feb and early March. Our first bed fish was locked on and caught March 2. We’ll see what the weather brings this year and I’ll do my best to keep y'all posted here on the TFF. I still have a few open slots for March & April as of this post.

Beginning March 1, I will be adjusting my full day rates from $400 to $450. All full day trips booked before March 1 will be set at my current rate. Half day trips and Summer Special rates will stay the same. I appreciate y'all stopping by and look forward to hearing from you.

Here are just a few of the GREAT pictures we took from last year! If you would like to see more you can find them on Facebook and Instagram To learn more about myself and my guide services please visit me at www.ericwrightlakefork.com - The best way to contact me is the old fashioned way -
just give me a call. #972 757 7947

I will update this thread here at the Texas Fishing Forum during the season with current pictures and information so make sure to check back in here.

2017

So far this winter we’ve seen some good numbers on Lake Fork. When the weather permits, I’ll be spending as much time on the lake as possible.
The water temperatures are currently 44-46 and we’ve been catching them on a Drop Shot, Carolina rig, Jigs and all the other usual suspects this time of year. I’m starting to do some work up shallow throwing chatterbaits & traps. If you are looking to get out and do some winter fishing, I have plenty of days open and would love to have you.

My last available days for March are Monday (3-5) and I also have a half day PM trip on March 12th. We've had some good numbers the last few trips. Water temp yesterday went from 58-60 and we had 22 in the boat.

As of this post I have 4 days left for April and I am starting to book up May and June.

Thanks, Eric Wright, 972 757 7947

Unfortunately a client had to cancel a 4 day fishing trip this coming week (March 26th -29th) because of a heart condition. I just hope he's okay. If y'all are looking for a guide this week I would love the opportunity - These fish on Lake Fork are chewing!

Thanks, Eric Wright 972 757 7947

Heads up!

For those of you looking to get out in May I still have some days open. I'll post my latest report here and some recent pictures.

Lake Fork Report

Spring is finally here and is an excellent time on Lake Fork to offer anglers of all experience levels the opportunity to come catch some giant bass!

As of this post the water level on Lake Fork is 402.96 and the water temperature where I am fishing is currently 64 degrees. The mornings here on Lake Fork can still be a little cool, so if you are coming out make sure to check the weather.

Recently the most common question asked is about water clarity. Lake Fork has received a lot of water this season and is currently dingy. This will change. The cleanest water I am finding is around mid-lake and we are ABSOLUTELY sight fishing.

This time of year I primarily use three baits.

When I am fishing secondary points, I will either use a drop shot or split shot rig. I set up my drop shot with a #1 rigging hook and a 1/4 oz weight (tomato). For the split shot rig I like to use a Fluke with a #3 rigging hook and 1/4 oz weight (Mardi Gras).

When I'm sight fishing, I throw a Texas rigged Paca Craw with a #3 rigging hook and a 5/16 Tungsten weight (Blk/Blu or Okeechobee Craw).

For those of you looking to come to Lake Fork for a guided trip, I would love the opportunity to help you catch a fish of a lifetime. Whether you are a first time or seasoned angler, I take pride in working hard to make sure each trip is a success. I currently have a few open slots left for April and I am starting to book May and June. If you have any questions or to book a trip, please feel free to give me a call.

Thanks, Eric Wright 972 757 7947

MY NEXT AVAILABLE FULL DAY TRIPS ARE MAY 1-2 and MAY 9-10

The last couple of weeks on Lake Fork have either been really good or really slow. As you can see below we’ve been catching some good fish. Some trips we have 30 fish, some we have 7. It just all depends.

This is how I’m fishing.

For some reason the windy days have been better for me. I have been fishing some main-lake points and secondary points. I’ll usually set the boat up in about 6 foot and cast to about 1 foot.

One of the baits that has been working best for me is a 3/8 oz Under Spin (white) with a skinny dipper (white). This is a secret so don’t tell anybody.:) This bait really has produced a lot of good fish this season. If they won’t chew on that, I have been throwing a line through swimbait.

I have also been throwing a Carolina-Rig with a Fluke (Mardi Gras) up in the same areas with about a 4 foot leader and 3/8 oz weight and a #3 rigging hook.

With all this said, I think y'all could catch fish on these spots with square bills, spinner baits and other baits like that.

I haven’t been able to do a lot of sight fishing this year because of the muddy water but the lake is starting to clear up. I am starting to see more fish this month. Most people know when I am sight fishing - I like to flip a Paca Craw with a 5/16 weight and #3 rigging hook.

If you are looking to come out with me for a guide trip in April - I have some evenings open and would love to have you out. These evening trips are a lot of fun and I think you would enjoy them. Also, I have plenty of May dates in May still available.
