I suppose I am like most other guys, I have a gozillion colors in my bag that I never use.....try to thin-down and donate. My questions:

Is Junebug a productive color? What clarity conditions?

Is there really a difference between Watermelon and Green Pumpkin - for water clarity purposes?

Can it be narrowed down to 3 or 4 "main" colors to address various water clarity conditions (matching forage a seperate consideration)?

I know there is no "right" and "wrong" answer, but I do like to hear other's opinions and confidence levels. Thanks!

You can do one of two things. Email zoom and ask them if it makes a difference or watch lunkerville videos until you find the episode that will clear up your question.

No doubt you can narrow it down to 3-4 colors and catch just as many fish. But that aint no fun!

I went from boat fishing to kayak fishing so i really had to trim down what I took with me. Found these 6 colors work for me in every condition

Black/blue
Green pumpkin
Junebug red
Red shad
Watermelon red
White

You only need two colors. Green pumpkin and watermelon/red.

im so guilty of this. everytime i go to bass pro academy or any tackle shop. I always scan the worm section and go oh man a new color and i buy like 4 or 5 bags. then when i go fishing i always end up throwing the green pumpkin or watermelon red or blue fleck or black n blue..never fails. i have so many that are unused...

^^^^^^so much truth to this. Blue fleck, green pumpkin and watermelon red and other variations is all i wind up throwing!

When I'm in my boat I have access to 100's of different shapes and colors. When I go with someone else I carry one small box with only 8 selections. Catch rate is the same either way. Less is more in most cases.

I think it�s more about the profile of the bait than the color.

Blue fleck, Green Pumpkin and Watermelon Red are all you need aside from the spawn. Then, hold a few pink and white baits. Anything else and you are wasting time.

June bug is a great color, I use it exclusively in the early spring if the water is heavy stained to muddy.

Plastics fished at the top of the water column�-Black, white, green
Plastics fished in the middle of the water column�shad color, blue gill color (blue gills can be different colors depending on their environment�some look almost all black if they live under lily pads all year)
Plastics fished on the bottom�green pumpkin, Black

With many presentations, the fish strike the lure on the fall and may have been watching the plastic even before it hits the water. Black and green tend to trigger strikes in all three water columns. This is part of the reason why I think black and green pumpkin are so versatile across every state in all water clarity conditions

There may be times when reds (brown orange red crawfish colors like Big Texan�dark purple red like Red shad or junebug and bright pink reds like methiolate) outperform, but day in and day out green pumpkin and black

This is why junebug is a productive color�it�s a hedge (a mix of dark red/purple with black dropped in and green flake added)

Green pumpkin itself is a hedge�it�s a greenish brown orange color usually with black flake mixed in

Junebug is good but I can catch them just as good on one of these two colors. If the water clarity is 3+ feet use WM/red flake. If the water clarity is less than that I normally use GP. Always dip the tail in chartreuse no matter what.

These two colors of soft plastics will get you bit at 99% of the lakes in the country 99% of the time. Will another color occasionally get bit more, on a rare occasion yes, but if you want to streamline your selection of plastics, this'll do it.

so if any of you want to really cut back on the number of worms you carry why not donate the rest to us to re-distribute them to high school anglers?
