Got the shingles vaccine because i had chickenpox. I believe if you did not have the pox you wont get shingles. I dont think everyone needs to be vaccinated

Just remember the shot does not stop the onset of a shingles outbreak, but lessons the severity of the attack. My wife & I got the shots a few years ago after a neighbor suffered terribly with a shingles out break. A couple of years later, my wife suffered a outbreak, which was fairly significant. It would. Have been terrible without the vaccine.

I had my yearly physical this week. Doc said there was a new vaccine out for shingles and said I should wait. See what happens to the early adopters. I took his advice.

Dr told wife it would be 30 yrd before she had to worry bout getting again

I had to get a doctors prescription to get one because I "wasn't old enough". I knew a couple of people well under the age of 60 that had horrible cases. Never got a good answer why they set that age minimum at 60, and why would the new shot be at 50? Why not 40 or whenever?

I had shingles last May. Thankfully a fairly moderate case. Took the meds and it finally went away. I was told by the doc to wait a year and get a shot. What the reason is to wait a year I do not know. It definitely can come back.

Guess I need to see about this I had a mild case also but have a friend in her 70�s that got it bad. I sure don�t want to go through what she did

I wonder if the 30 years is based on having gotten the vaccine? I had shingles when I was about 2 years old and now 62 years later I can still remember the pain. According to my doctor you can get shingles more than once which is why everyone needs to get the vaccine and is why I got my shot.
