So, I have a hummingbird 998C SI. Everything looks good at idle and what not. But, at speed, I lose bottom.
Does anyone know the protocol for correcting that?

I know on my boat(Tracker PT 190) I lose SI at speed. I run Lowrance Gen 2 7s. Heck I lose 2D on speed as well. I have it mounted low on the aft but not on the little underscooped part. I have been told if I move it down there it would maintain bottom contact better.

You have to have an in-hull ducer to keep an accurate bottom depth on pad.
Mounted to the Exterior, you won't read anything.
Thats my money fish Kris Winhold

above 10 you need a high speed ducer... most call them thru hull as we glue them to the bottom inside

FYI - I never lost bottom on the other boat. So I know I have something not set up right. Just not sure exactly what yet.

That part of your boat isnt in the water over about 20 mph. It needs to be shoot thru. Either that or lower it to bottom of the step next to drain hole. But youll likely knock it off down there. Glue it in the bilge. As low and center as you can get it. Right in front of the drain in best. I can read mine at 65 mph.
