Took a friend fishing, she ended up landing a monster Buff at 27.8#. I took the measurement, weight, and picture so she could submit it for a big fish award. She told me she didn't have a license but she would get one. Would you submit it once she recieves a license or tell her to leave it be?

I wouldn't submit it. Submitting a fish as a record or for an award means that you caught it legally.

Even if TPWD never followed up on this, it's still dishonorable to claim any kind of record under the circumstances you describe.

Don't think you can turn in a illegal fish can you. With out a license that would make it a illegal fish.
Just my thoughts

You can probably expect to hear from a game warden for fishing without a license. Why would anyone post that they were party to breaking the law

Okay cool thanks for the input! I didn't know the person I brought with me didn't have a license because we all assume those kinds of things.

For some, game laws are merely a suggestion. No don’t do it but encourage her to get legal.
