I have a Mercery 1993 225hp with carbs that has always been used with quicksilver outboard motor oil. Now all I can find is the synthetic blend. Even when I order the straight oil on line they send me synthetic blend when their ad shows straight oil not some blend. I have 5 gal setting here at my shop from sportsman warehouse of the synthetic blend even after making sure they understood I want their as advertised straight outboard motor oil. I just reordered from West Marine and I bet they are going to send me the same synthetic blend. Why no straight oil on the shelf at Wal mart or Academy? All they have is the blend. What are the other guys with old rigs doing for oil in a Mercery? Any Mercery oil advice out there?

. The red label is for use with the small boat motors only not the large motors. They also use that with snow mobiles chain saws and others. Small engines only with the red label.

I saw it on sale at academy. Maybe that's why it's hard to find

. How did you know you were able to burn the blend? Did you research it somewhere?

Why would you not want to use blend or full synthetic.

Why would you want to run the old red label crude oil?! the premium plus synthetic blend will create far less carbon build-up and deposits in your engine, I think you may be confusing premium plus with the the DFI oil.

My 9.9 hates that synthetic stuff. No difference on the big motor

The original Premium Plus that I run is not a synthetic blend like it is now. Its a straight two stroke oil make for higher RPM engines.

My 1993 Mercery 225 hp calls for straight two stroke engine oil not a blend or full synthetic. It was not built for blended gas now that we are talking about the old engines. I burn straight gas in it too like the book calls for. Mercury tells you what to use in them. My engine runs good I want to keep it that way. This is not something I just pulled out of my [censored] one day. If there is new information on this im open to read anything and I want to that will bring me up to date. This is a two stroke and it is different than the four strokes that I have been working on for the past 58 years. Im trying my best to keep this old thing together because im 72 and we would like to go out of this world together.

That red label is for the smaller engines as stated on the label not of use on the big cid engines. Where are you getting you straight two stroke oil for the big cid higher RPM engines?
