The Dobyns I ordered were too stiff to make a good crappie rod, but I had to try one of our sponsors first. Yesterday I received an 8 foot ProAngler. Now this one is definitely a crappie rod. I paired it with a Daiwa Revros. Now hopefully we'll have another wave of spawners.

You definitely can't go wrong with a pro angler!!
The driving force and secret desire of every bass fisherman, is to one day be a crappie fisherman............Could it be that the good Lord just smilies and looks the other way when a fisherman tells a lie?

Pro Angler rods are the bomb. I love them.
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

The 8 footer seemed like a good multi-purpose length. Planning on putting some line on it today and seeing if I can find a few.

The PAT 8' is a great all around rod. A really good size crappie can easily be slung over the gunnels. I now fish mainly with the 10' for a little more stealth and reach fishing timber. However, when I put the 8' in my hands, it's like, oh man, this is crazy good!

Which Dobyns rod was it that you tried? I've read the Sierra 700 makes a good crappie rod.
