Just got our first fishing boat. Going to install an Xi5 on Thursday.
Taking the wife ti PK for camping and she's dragging the boat.
If I were to target crappie, where to we start? Not asking for anyone's secret spots. Just trying to reduce my search and increase her catch time.

Depends on where you are camping. If at the state park, then Cedar Creek area which runs by that park is a pretty good area. Across from the state park you will see some telephone poles in the water, good area too. Last year this time Caddo Bay next to Bass Island was good area too.

I fish PK several days a week. Most cases I am after crappie. The results this past week have produced ZERO crappie. The cold fronts have moved them from the shallows. The previous week I was catching a few males shallow using jig and bobber. Monday my jig and Bobber results were zero crappie and 20 or so spawning LM Bass and whopper Carp. Bass are fun to catch but not what I was looking for. All of this was down lake in Neely Slough to Bluff Creek.
Yesterday I took a friends grandson out fishing mid lake. Jigs and minnows produced a nice box of LM Bass, Stripers and sand bass. Nada on the crappie again. The lake is super clear and about 60-64 deg. I was able to find the TPWD fish attractors by navigating using GPS close then seeing them in 15 - 20 feet in the clear water. Better be ready for some gin clear water fishing if you come to PK ( fluorocarbon leader and very life like jigs / minnows)
Good Luck.
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

Thanks to all for the help. Looks like we are actually going to skip out. The wind is going to be a little higher and a bit cooler than the wife cares to be on the boat. Maybe in a couple of weeks....

When i lived in Graham this is an area I fished for crappie often. On the opposite end we also fished Rock creek.
