Does anyone know of a dealer that discounts St. Croix Rods and has a decent inventory. I've only found full retail prices. Surely there's someone that discounts a little.

Fish USA sometimes has 15-20% discounts on St. Croix rods or spinning rods, or $25 off $150 purchases etc...If you get on their email list, they send out notices of discounts a few times a week. I bought the 6'9" panfish rod that is normaly $120 there for $99 when all spinning rods were on sale a couple months ago.

Also, purchases through the ebay mobile app for anything often have 15% or 20% off coupons available. There were 2 last week, in fact, and I've bought a dozen brand new daiwa/dobyns/shimano rods/reels new on ebay fulfilled through the American Legacy Fishing store mostly with that discount, and tax free as well.

Sounds like JDV has some good options for you. I use Tackle Warehouse. Im prior military, so I get %10 off my purchases. If you are prior or currently serving, just send them a copy of your ID as proof and they will set it up so every time you order it will automatically give you the discount.

Depends on which rods series you are looking for; Cablea's carries Mojo Bass and Avid in stores and Academy did have Mojo Bass and Bass X in stores. Both stories have weekly sales with Academy I know has a spring sale going on now.

If you are looking for the higher end rods like the Tournament Bass then get on their email list and St Croix will periodically have discounts. Their biggest has been Black Friday weekend. The Tournament series were 30% off if I recall correctly. I bought 4 different ones.

Just like JDV, I have bought most of mine from FishUSA. They seem to carry a good variety, have those sales, too, free shipping as I recall for over $50, at least at times.

JDV, you are going to love your 6'9" Ultralight Rod. I have it, too. I recommend 2 lbs. Sufix Nanobraid on your reel if you want to make really long casts. So strong, it is spooky.

Brad

Hey, OP just letting you know that today FishUSA has 15% off most rods with the coupon code MONROD15 and the Legend Tournament Series is included. Takes at least $40 off or more depending which model you were looking at.

Brad, ya, the St. Croix Ultralight is awesome! I caught a ton of trout, bluegill and lots of bass (on trout lures) all the way up to 3.5lbs and it has handled them all very well. I currently have 6lb sufix braid to a 6lb mono leader on it, but will look into that 2lb nanobraid as increased casting would be handy. Do you have any issues with break offs or know the actual breaking strength of that 2 lb line?
