It was time to put the old one out of its misery. This applies to many things.
Team wolfs I had to perform. It took a minute to get it all in my mouth and another five to swallow it all.

Mine did the same thing. The float stuck on carb and filled the crank case with gas, so gas got into the oil. Drained the oil, replaced, and it ran great after that. Even if your carb is fine now, there is still gas in the oil. Btw, dont run it until youve changed the oil. This motor threw a rod a few months later, of course it was a Tecumseh so it was just a matter of time anyway This is mine when it wasnt working- This is after draining oil:

Fresh gas. Change the oil. Clean the carb. I bet it runs after those things.

4 years is still new. I am Running my Sears Garden tractor mower for 12 years. Mowing a 3 acre yard. Change the oil and filters every year. I agree ......... Seafoam. And I will stay away from the Husky. That ain't right.

Usually with lawn mowers flooding out and running bad its one of two things. Either the fuel went bad and gummed up the carburetor or more often then not theirs dirt stuck in one of the jets. This happens when people take off the gas cap without wiping the dirt off around it. Dirt falls in the carb and gets sucked up into the jets. Thats why the air filter is soaked.

Make sure the gas cap is venting. Just loosen it and see if it keeps running. This. Had same thing happen to my Husqvarna. I messed with it for so long trying to get it to run and finally found an article online saying the caps are bad and stop venting. Ran perfectly if I just left it a little loose.

When ethanol was just coming out & I started having engine problems, I learned to run every small engine out of gas when I used them.
I use Yamaha Ring Free in all the small engines that I own, similar to Seafoam. Those two things have made my life so much easier.
Put new treated fuel in something, crank it up & go to work.

I was going to say "check the fuel filter" until I saw the blue smoke mention. I had a mower once that would run a few seconds them quit. It had loose debris in the fuel filter. Once the engine started drawing fuel, the debris would suck back to the filter and choke out the engine.
May you be treated the way you treat other people, today and everyday!
