Work has been brutal these last few weeks. I've missed most of the white bass run at Lake Somerville, haven't taken the Kayak out on the water since February, and haven't had much time to fish or post any pictures. This weekend, taking the opportunity to take a break from the Spring work around the house, I tied up a few new fly's and headed out to the pond to do a little fishing. The weather was perfect, although the wind did pose a challenge casting out the fly. The bite was slow at first, but about 30 min after walking the perimeter of the pond, I finally found a few fish. It's always a nice feeling to catch fish on fly's you tie at home. The crappie were biting as well as the bass. The bream were also biting, but I did not manage to take a picture of the fat bream hanging around the shallow water. It was a nice break from the work, call, and stress. Sometimes you just need to put down the responsibilities and take a little time for yourself. This will be my last weekend of call for the next 2 weeks so I'm hoping the weekend weather holds out, and lets me get out to larger bodies of water!!!

I thought fishing WAS a responsability...
Beautiful pictures - killer looking fly! I wish you would have caught that big bluegill, bet that would have been a great picture given how well the crappie turned out.

Walking a pond or small lake shoreline is a fun way to fly fish. Thanks for the photos and report.

Congratulations on another wonderful day on the water. Read my signature, it speaks to this post.

I go to you tube for fly tying ideas and materials. As you get more experience tying, you'll start changing things up to make your own fly's. Always look at the body of water your fishing to make adjustments to the color and pattern.

A crazy Charlie will even catch wild coldwater trout like rainbow and browns in mountain rivers.
