I'm looking into buying a Ranger RT178, is anyone running one of these or have any information? I fish medium to big lakes but don't need anything that is super fast or can take on big waters. Thanks ahead of time!

I have a 2014 RT188, 115 Merc, and a Terrova 80.
sips gas, runs 45mph, and handles great. Only problem I've had was the
trailer lights leaked, Ranger dealer swapped them out with
a upgraded set, no more problems. fish

I have the same set-up as Jim Sr. Very satisfied. Have not been in a 178, but probably would be fine.

With where I fish, I prefer aluminum. I have a Lowe's Stinger 175. I liked it better than the Ranger. Get an Ultrex, and you're set.

I seriously considered the Aluminum Ranger prior to buying my new to me kitty kat... the padded hull makes for a great ride and the storage and deck space was really nice and roomy. Go to Cabellas in Mckinney and hop in one to get good feel. Really nice boat.

I looked at these while shopping for my current boat. I ended up buying a G3 Sportsman 17 and am very satisfied with it. You might look into the G3 and compare.

Hard to beat a tin boat.

"..The pleasantist angling is to see the fish
Cut with her golden oars the silver stream,
And greedily devour the treacherous bait.

I run a Ranger glass boat and my dealer was telling me the other day that they were having to do lots of repairs on the Ranger aluminum boats. Specifically the weld on the very nose of the bow cracking and spreading. Not sure how big of a problem it is but something to consider.

If I was going tin I would have to look at the crestliner and sea ark.

Gator Trax is the Cadillac of tin boats. Made from 3/16 aluminum and you can have one made to your specs. That 21 footer is a beast.
