So, I'm stubborn and blew it off when I read that I should add the Ethanol Treatment BEFORE I added the fuel each time. So, inevitably, it cost me a day of fishing replacing the fill hose that the Stabil completely disintegrated. So, maybe my stupidity can save you some headache. Moral of the story: Add your Ethanol Treatment first, then the fuel to wash the treatment through the fill hose.

Thanks for the heads up. Surely some new boat owner will find it valuable.

I've been finding ethanol free gas for the last year but when I can't I buy a gallon can of gas and add the treatment to it before pouring the gas in the boat. Had no idea stabil would do that to a rubber hose though. Thanks for the heads up.

This was the source of a fuel leak that I removed the tank 2x, replaced the vent hoses, and sending unit before figuring it out because the fuel cap got broke off and when I pulled the hose to it to clamp it on the end, it came out like an accordian!! Oh and that little run of hose was $40!!!

Had never even thought about that. I have to admit that I have always added any additive after pumping the gas.

I doubt ring free or quick care would do this to hoses. Anything is possible though

I would whole heartily disagree that ethanol fuel does not degrade or go bad rapidly. Plenty of research on problems w/ethanol fuels and not all by someone trying to sell you additives. The addition of corn to save 10% of our fossil fuels has been destructive to the boating world...period. I would rephrase your statement to No reason to add any treatment.....if you use your fuel REGULARLY. If you only get to use your boat occasionally and sometimes it sits with10% ethanol in the tanks for weeks or months its not a question of IF you will have problems....its WHEN?

I think ethanol fuel starts to break down in just a couple weeks without use

Because i have never seen any proof that additives actually work. So i don't waste my money on them.
