Took my granddad out carp fishing with me, his first time ever fishing for them on purpose. Unfortunately, he lost his only fish of the day to a snag, although he did land a 20-25lb Spiny Soft Shell Turtle that he promptly proceeded to cut the line on. We ended up getting soaked trying to stay just a bit longer to put just one more fish on the bank, but it was a blast nonetheless. All fish were caught on a method mix of oats and creamed corn and were released to fight another day.
My first of the day, a solid 15lb 4oz fish. She didn't fight too hard but sure felt nice in my hands. Lost a fish shortly after her to a hook pull though.
I knew this place held some big fish and was lucky enough to land this 20lb 6oz beauty! This is the biggest fish I've ever seen caught in person, and my new PB! Looks like she'll be ready to produce the next generation of bigguns pretty soon.
(Pardon the finger, my granddad is a bit old to work new technology)
Our trip was cut short because of the rain, but after seeing me catch those fish my granddad isn't going to want to wait too long to get back out again.
New to angling. Catch and release. The dream - to catch at least one of every species in our great state (if I can manage to resist carp)!https://txmultispecies.imgur.com/
