It’s springtime here in North Texas and wanted to give a quick cat fishing report from Lake Tawakoni. Spring break was awesome fishing for the most part despite way colder temperatures than normal… The main lake right now is sitting at 57°… And some coves and creeks are in the mid to lower 60s.

Fish have been trying to move shallow the last four weeks… But since the lake is still so cold there is a huge crop of fish deep.

We have been getting fish shallow and deep with the bigger fish still coming from the mid depths in 15-35ft. The eater bite is super solid right now mostly coming from 10’ or less...but, I got on a weird box fish bite couple days ago with some New Mexico boys and we smoked em in the 25ft range.

We did into a flurry a few days ago on big fish up shallow in 2ft...but those fish didn’t last long.

Overall it’s been a weird, but good catfish bite. Stay on the move, keep ur bait fresh and don’t forget to check structure in the 15-25ft range...especially if the waves are crashing into that shore.

Bait is easy cheesy...u can get it anywhere on the lake right now.

Holler at me if ya see us on end Lake, thumb

Great tips there...

Catching eaters in our cove this weekend.... 5 FOW...

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Great fish and great report. I am headed out there Friday to take 2 of my nephews. If I see you I will holler.

Good graph shot. I am looking forward to our sonar trip on April 6th.

Thanks Guys.

Fishing was tougher today. Think the full moon and cold front kinda knocked em in the head. We finally grinded our a limit of fish but we had to work for em.

Fish still want fresh cut shad in depths of 8-20ft of water. The shallow water bite just isn’t producing much for me.
