Need some advice guys!
3 of us have been planning a trip to Fork for mid-April. Over the Easter weekend, word got out and now there will be 6 of us. We have decided to rent a Pontoon and make the best of the trip.
I know wind will be a challenge. Other than that, any advice on us hitting the shallows in this big pontoon in a couple weeks? I'm worried we can't get into the creeks or shallows..

I believe there are places on Fork that rent aluminum bass boats..rent a couple of those or take turns. Yes, you'll be pretty limited with a pontoon, especially in April with fish being shallower.

I see people all the time fishing for Bass and Crappie on Fork this time of year. Pick a creek and get to chunking and make the best of the situation with what you have. Rick rents pontoons and aluminum boats for a very fair price. Three creeks that come to mind that will be easy to fish out of a Poo Poo boat will be Williams, Big Mustang and Little Mustang

Thanks for the feedback, we'll definitely give it a go!!
I've got a little guy at home (16 months old) that is keeping me from the water this year. I'll only be on the lake twice this spawn.

There are only 2 rental places on/near fork. J&J and Ricky's. J&J got out of the rental business this year, leaving only Ricky's. Ricky's has good prices, but $180 a day for two days for two boats is a bit much. We're going the pontoon route to half the expenses. If it was just the original 3 of us, we'd get the bassboat.

Sounds like a great time. My advice would be to focus on prespawn/postspawn fish and not go into the flats or creeks very much. Tie up or anchor, relax, and fish plastics out deeper (10-20ft).

If you can get a pontoon with a trolling motor you can make it work pretty good. Without a trolling motor you'll have to anchor or tie up. Wind is a problem with a pontoon. Good luck.
