John Cox runs a tin boat on FLW, there’s another guy on the Elite series. Is it ideal for rough water? Absolutely not. Fiberglass wins that contest hands down. In every other category tin has come a long way in the last few years. With the Ultrex coming out, it pretty much negates the “blowing around like a kite” downside of tin. In tin on a windy day, you will get wet and it will be a rough ride. Period.

Some of the newer aluminum boats are getting pretty wide, so the ride is much better. I bought a Tracker 195 in February after my last boat was a BassCat. I'm very satisfied with ride, and stability than previous aluminums I have fished. You can't beat the price. I can still do 60mph, and the ride is fine. With mine, one person moving from side to side doesn't drop much at all, so very stable in water. My friend's Xpress feels like it's about to dump you if someone moves over a bit. I have a Terrova 80lb 24 volt, so I stay where I want. It doesn't bob up and down in the water like they used to. You have to pick and choose more carefully, but I'm completely satisfied with my choice.
